Minister's Response to Allegations

On Thursday, Union Minister Rajeev Ranjan, also known as Lalan Singh, responded to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's accusations against the Election Commission during a Lok Sabha session. Singh remarked that the Congress party seems to advocate for non-Indians to be allowed to vote. He further noted that the citizens of Bihar are pleased with the special intensive revision campaign in the state. In a conversation with the media, Singh stated, 'The opposition wants individuals who are not citizens of the country to participate in voting. They wish for our democracy to operate through deceit. No one in Bihar has criticized this initiative, and the common people are satisfied with it.'

Kiren Rijiju's Remarks on Rahul Gandhi

Meanwhile, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju targeted Rahul Gandhi over his claims of 'vote theft' against the Election Commission. Rijiju accused the opposition leader of not having read or respected the Constitution. Speaking to reporters, he said, 'Rahul Gandhi has neither read the Constitution nor does he respect it. I have no remedy to correct him. After the Supreme Court's remarks, he should come to his senses.'

Supreme Court's Commentary on Voter List

Rijiju referenced the Supreme Court's comments regarding the 'SIR' process in Bihar, which validated the Election Commission's modifications to the voter list and clarified that an Aadhaar card is not a definitive proof of citizenship. He suggested that there are many intelligent individuals within the Congress party and urged them to impart some wisdom to Rahul Gandhi. 'Not everyone in Congress is like Rahul Gandhi; they should unite to provide him with some sense,' he added.

Critique of Rahul Gandhi's Video

Regarding a video shared by Rahul Gandhi, where he interacts with individuals declared 'dead' by the Election Commission, Rijiju dismissed it as a 'drama.' He reiterated that the Election Commission's role is to remove deceased individuals from the voter list and add new voters. He explained that the Election Commission has specific guidelines, and each state has election officials working under the state government to prepare the voter list on behalf of the Commission. The Supreme Court has clearly stated that the SIR process has been in place since independence and should continue to ensure that the names of deceased individuals are removed from the voter list. So, why is Rahul Gandhi engaging in this tea-drinking drama? The purpose of SIR is to eliminate the names of the deceased and incorporate new voters.
